The GAF Constitution and By-laws
The Gubernatorial Aspirants Forum (GAF) was established in recognition of the urgent need to raise the standard of political leadership and governance in Nigeria. Over the years, challenges of poor governance, corruption, lack of inclusivity, and limited civic participation have hindered the nation’s progress. It is within this context that GAF emerges as a non-partisan platform to unite gubernatorial aspirants, thought leaders, and committed citizens who share a common vision of ethical, accountable, and people-oriented leadership.
This Constitution and By-Laws provide the foundational framework upon which GAF is built. It defines our aims and objectives, guides membership, outlines governance structures, and sets forth the principles of accountability, transparency, and service that every member is bound to uphold. It also establishes clear rules for finance, leadership, discipline, and conduct, ensuring that the Forum remains a credible and enduring institution.
As a living document, this Constitution is both a guide and a covenant. It not only secures compliance with the provisions of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020 but also reflects the collective aspirations of GAF’s founding members. It represents our commitment to building a platform where aspirants can collaborate, learn, and advocate for reforms that strengthen democracy and improve governance at the state level and beyond.
We commend this document to all members, trustees, officers, and stakeholders of GAF. May it serve as a beacon of integrity and a roadmap for the realisation of our vision: a Nigeria where leadership is ethical, inclusive, and devoted to serving its people.
Dedication
This Constitution is dedicated to all Nigerians who believe in the promise of democracy, the power of ethical leadership, and the responsibility of service.
It is especially dedicated to the youth of Nigeria—the leaders of tomorrow—whose courage, creativity, and resilience inspire us to build a better future through transparent and accountable governance.
Acknowledgements
The Gubernatorial Aspirants Forum (GAF) expresses profound gratitude to its founding members and trustees, whose vision and dedication made this Forum a reality. Their collective wisdom and sacrifice have shaped this Constitution into a document that not only complies with the law but also reflects our deepest aspirations for Nigeria.
We extend our thanks to all members, associates, and honorary supporters who contributed ideas, expertise, and encouragement during the drafting and adoption process.
Special appreciation is also given to the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) for providing regulatory guidance, ensuring that this Constitution aligns with the provisions of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020.
Finally, we acknowledge the countless Nigerians—past and present—who have fought for democracy, justice, and good governance. Their struggles and sacrifices remind us that the work of nation-building is ongoing, and this Forum is our contribution to that noble journey.
