Short Biography

Hon. Stephen Osemwegie, born 10 October 1984 in Benin City, comes from Iguole Nisi Village in Uhunmwonde LGA, Edo State. Married with three children, he holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Nigeria, Enugu, a Master’s from Southwest Minnesota State University, USA, and is currently pursuing a PhD at Columbia International University.

An entrepreneur with ventures in Nigeria and the United States, Osemwegie entered the public arena in 2024 as a Labour Party gubernatorial aspirant for Edo State. His “A New Direction for Edo” campaign focuses on empowering youth, improving education, supporting small and medium enterprises, and reducing poverty. He proposes to invest in infrastructure, healthcare, security and the ease of doing business to uplift more than four million Edolites.

A key leader and mobilizer within the Labour Party and the Obidient Movement, Osemwegie advocates for transparent, people‑centred governance. His blend of academic credentials, business success and community leadership marks him as part of a rising generation dedicated to transforming Edo State and Nigeria. Osemwegie continues to inspire his supporters with a vision rooted in inclusiveness and sustainable development, signalling a commitment to both local progress and national renewal.
