To build an education system that not only prepares students for exams but equips them with the skills, creativity, and resilience to thrive in life and contribute to Edo State’s growth.

Our Commitment

At the Gubernatorial Aspirants Forum (GAF), we believe that education is the foundation of opportunity and the most powerful tool for transforming our society. Our commitment is to ensure that every child in Edo State has access to quality, inclusive, and future-focused education.

We will:

Invest in Schools – Renovate classrooms, equip laboratories, libraries, and ICT centres, and ensure modern learning facilities across both urban and rural areas.
Support Teachers – Recruit, train, and properly compensate teachers, while providing ongoing professional development.
Expand Equal Access – Guarantee opportunities for all children, including those in underserved communities and those living with disabilities.
Revitalise Vocational & Technical Training – Align education with the state’s economic needs by strengthening technical colleges, skill centres, and entrepreneurship programs.
Promote Innovation – Update curricula to prioritise STEM, digital literacy, creative industries, and Edo’s cultural heritage.
Partner for Progress – Collaborate with alumni, the private sector, and global institutions to fund, modernise, and sustain education.

Our Plan Includes:

1. Strengthening Basic Education

Renovate and modernise primary and secondary schools.
Ensure adequate recruitment, training, and welfare of qualified teachers.
Expand digital learning tools and provide ICT access in rural and urban schools.

2. Equal Access & Inclusivity

Implement policies that guarantee access to quality education for all, including children in rural areas, those with disabilities, and marginalized groups.
Provide scholarships and bursaries for indigent but bright students.

3. Curriculum Innovation

Update curricula to include STEM, entrepreneurship, vocational training, and digital literacy, preparing students for modern careers.
Integrate Edo’s rich cultural heritage, history, and language to strengthen identity.

Invest in universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education to become hubs of innovation.
Foster partnerships with international institutions for exchange programs and research funding.
Support student-led innovations and startups.

5. Vocational & Technical Education

Expand technical colleges and skill acquisition centers.
Align vocational training with the demands of Edo’s economy—agriculture, ICT, construction, renewable energy, and creative industries.

6. Governance & Funding

Establish transparent education funding mechanisms.
Involve communities, alumni associations, and the private sector in co-funding and supporting schools.
